On 13 July 2022 and during the Alpha Regional Gathering 2022 event, Alpha Malaysia hosted an event called, “Let’s Talk Gen Z”. The purpose of this event was to share insightful information about Generation Z (Gen Z) based on the research done by Barna Group and to spark conversation about ministry among the Gen Z in churches. We were thrilled for the opportunity to host 146 participants from 73 organisations over across 10 countries!
Before the event started, the participants were greeted by the Alpha Malaysia team members and dinner was served with delicious food like pizza and satay. This provided an opportunity for the team members and participants to connect with one another.
The event started with our emcee of the night, Abraham Tan from the Youth and Campus team in Alpha Malaysia, introducing the overall programme of the event and playing an ice breaker game. Sarath Kumar also made a special appearance online to greet the participants.
After that, we went into a time of worship led by Eunice Jalin, member of the research team in Alpha Malaysia. Dan Blythe, the Global Youth Director in Alpha, took the stage and presented on the “The Open Generation” report. This report is a first-of-its-kind international research study to help leaders understand teenagers around the world.
We then went into a time of Q&A where the participants could ask Dan Blythe any questions relating to this topic. To end the event, we took some time to pray for one another, the church leaders that serve with the Gen Z, and the Gen Zs themselves.
Overall, it was a privilege for us to host this event where we were blessed to have Dan Blythe as our speaker and have many participants from many churches tune in.
