The Alpha Malaysia online fundraising initiative, Bridge 2021, was held on 23 October 2021. It was a great privilege to host over 120 people who tuned in that Saturday morning.
Carrying the same theme of “Bridge Lives, Bridge Churches, Bridge Malaysia” from last year’s fundraising initiative, the purpose was to celebrate with our partners on the build up of communities and transformation of lives by the Holy Spirit on Alpha throughout this year amidst all the challenges.
The event commenced with a special performance by Divyang Hong (Partnership Development Senior Associate of Teach For Malaysia) and Alpha Malaysia, delivering an inspirational spoken word poetry piece that encapsulates the journey that we have gone through as a church in Malaysia over the past two years.
We then went on a journey across the different states in Malaysia to look back on what happened throughout this year with Alpha Malaysia.
After that, we featured an interview between Dato’ Kathleen Chew (Chairperson of Alpha Malaysia) and Nicky Gumbel (Pioneer of Alpha and Vicar of Holy Trinity Brompton, London). Nicky shared with us his thoughts on the COVID-19 pandemic and now being the season of emergence.
Later on, Pr. Dr. Philip Lyn (Senior Pastor of Skyline SIB) shared with us about the opportunity to further advance the vision of Alpha here in Malaysia, and we ended the fundraising event with Pr. Dato’ Dr. Daniel Ho (Founding Pastor of Damansara Utama Methodist Church) sharing about his observation of the church in Malaysia and at the end, he led us in a time of prayer for our nation.
We are utterly grateful for the generosity of our guests, and part of the funds raised will be given to the work in Alpha Asia Pacific and the foodbank initiative under HTBB Church. We are thankful for all the support towards the mission of Alpha and look forward to continuing partnering with you in our initiatives for 2022.
